A woman in her 40s, accused of stalking Rain and his wife, actress Kim Tae Hee, has been sentenced to one year in prison.
On December 8, during a trial held at the Seoul Western District Court, the woman received this sentence along with an additional requirement to participate in a stalking treatment program. Notably, she was absent from the trial for the second time.
The woman repeatedly visited the couple's home, ringing the doorbell and knocking on their doors. She persisted in her actions despite prior warnings about violating the Misdemeanor Punishment Act. This included visiting Rain and Kim Tae Hee's home 14 times between March and October of the previous year, persistently ringing their doorbell.
In February, disregarding previous warnings, the woman once again showed up at the celebrity couple's residence. She knocked on their door and rang the doorbell, resulting in her immediate arrest by the police. This action followed a report filed by Rain himself. Furthermore, in April, reports emerged that the stalker had even visited the beauty salon frequented by the victims, continuing her stalking behavior.
Initially, the police had chosen not to prosecute, citing difficulties in proving the continuity and repetition necessary to establish a crime. However, after conducting a supplementary investigation at the prosecution's request, the woman was indicted in September. Notably, the prosecution applied the Anti-Stalking Act, even though only one crime had occurred after its enactment, arguing that the woman's repeated offenses demonstrated a consistent motivation and method.
You know it was REALLY bad to get a prison sentence.
