K-netizens react to the news that the BLACKPINK members decided not to continue their individual activities with YG

On December 29, it announced that BLACKPINK members would not continue their individual activities under YG Entertainment.

YG Entertainment made an official statement explaining, "YG Entertainment renewed BLACKPINK's contracts for the team's promotions as a group. We have now come to an agreement to not sign contracts for the members' individual promotions."

In the wake of the announcement, numerous media outlets have swiftly reported on this development.

Earlier, Jennie revealed her exciting new venture with the launch of her own label, OA (ODDATELIER). As for the other members of BLACKPINK, their individual plans for 2024 are still under wraps. Inside sources suggest that Lisa is currently in talks with an international agency regarding a potential contract, while Jisoo is actively exploring opportunities to further enhance her presence in the acting realm. There were rumors of Rose renewing her individual contract with YG, but it appears those rumors were untrue.

Korean netizens are not surprised by the latest news that the BLACKPINK members decided not to continue with YG Entertainment for individual activities.

They commented, "Now we can see more of their individual activities. Congrats on escaping YG," "They're ultimately going to disband I guess," "I think this is better because they can now promote diligently individually and their fandom would grow bigger. With this synergy, they can come back as a group and when they do, it would be epic. I was getting frustrated with individual activity support with YG, so this is better," "It looks like all the BLACKPINK members might establish their own labels so that there's no trouble when they promote as a group. I think they're trying to do solo activities and group activities. So this is better because YG just needs to focus on the group's activities now," "They're going to make more money if they establish their own labels now," and "Are they going to release just a few albums every few years? well I guess nothing changes because BLACKPINK makes one comeback per year anyway."

The end is near... for both YG and BP.

If Blinks want to know what their future looks like, the most obvious example is Bigbang. At best, there will be a single song and MV where it's obvious that none of them are in the same place, and then BP will quietly disband.

Your other two options are SNSD or GOT7. Either the girls will come together again in 2026 for their 10th anniversary, then every five years after that like SNSD, OR they'll focus almost exclusively on their individual careers with an occasional random comeback to remind people the group still technically exists, like GOT7.
