BTS member Jimin, set to enlist in the military alongside Jungkook, will join the 5th Infantry Division's New Recruit Training Center where Jin is currently serving as an instructor. Speaking about his impending enlistment, Jimin said, "Enlisting with Jungkook will give me a lot of strength. It feels a bit different enlisting at our age." Jimin shared his final thoughts and gratitude to fans on Weverse live.
Jimin also shared his recent experiences and thoughts with fans. "The weather has been cold lately; everyone, please take care of yourselves. I had the flu for about five days after returning from Japan. After recovering, I realized I only had a week left and wondered whom to meet," he said. "I didn't have anyone particular in mind, so I just met up with a friend and had a drink. Since it's not like I won't see everyone forever, time just passed while I was at home."
He reflected on the activities and growth of himself and his fellow members. "Suga hyung(older brother) is doing well, and Namjoon hyung and Taehyung will do great too. Jin hyung and Hoseok hyung are serving splendidly. Jungkook and I will also do our best and fulfill our duties," Jimin said. "After returning, I hope we can do everything we've wanted, especially a tour together. That's something we've really wanted to do as a group."
Jimin acknowledged the longer-than-expected duration before enlistment but emphasized the importance of their solo projects in the meantime. "It was important not to rush things and to show our growth and best efforts to our fans," he explained.
He expressed his gratitude to the fans for their continuous support. "I'm always grateful and happy because of you. It feels like I'm just temporarily parting from friends I've been with for nearly 10 or 11 years. I'm looking forward to quickly reuniting and having fun with everyone. I'll reflect on your gratitude and miss you deeply while I'm away."
Jimin, known for his lean physique, joked, "People say you gain a lot of weight in the military. I'll try to come back with a healthier body. I'm going to spend some time with my family after this live broadcast ends. Time seems to fly by when you're outside. I was thinking 'Jin hyung has already been there for a year.' I'll be back before you know it."
He reassured fans about his prepared projects and his eagerness to communicate with them during his service. "I prepared things I wanted to do, but I'm not sure if they'll match your tastes. I hope they'll at least be entertaining," Jimin said. After revealing his new haircut and expressing his resolve, he ended the live session with a heartfelt message, "I love you. I'll be back soon."
BTS had announced that starting with Jin last year, the members would sequentially fulfill their military duties, with the hope of resuming group activities as a complete team around 2025. Jin is expected to be discharged in June next year, followed by J-Hope in October. Suga will be discharged in June 2025. RM and V have already enlisted on the 11th, and Jimin and Jungkook will soon join them. The complete return of BTS as a group, including all members' discharge from military service, is anticipated by June 2025.
