Kpop4Planet, a digital climate platform run by K-pop fans, rallied a protest truck during Paris Fashion Week to highlight the greenwashing done by luxury brands that are associated with K-pop idols.
With backing from multiple global fandoms, including sections of BLINK and ARMY, Kpop4planet initiated protest trucks in major cities like New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Seoul, and Jakarta. Targeting prominent luxury brands such as Chanel, Celine, Saint Laurent, and Dior, the trucks highlighted the companies' insufficient attention to environmental concerns.
The trucks are part of their “Unboxed: High Fashion, High Carbon” campaign. With the worsening climate crisis, the fans shouted, “No greenwashing!” and demanded luxury brands clean up their act if they want to keep using idols as brand ambassadors.
So far the campaign gathered almost 10,000 signatures on their petition and has been covered around the world includingVogue Business, highlighting the fans’ power in demanding action from the company.
Embarrassing 🤡. Also, they’re sending trucks to protest?? Wouldn’t that make the climate issue worse?
