Singer Nafla partially entered a plea of not guilty during an appeal trial regarding a violation of the Military Service Act. The Seoul Southern District Court (Criminal Division 2-3) hosted the first appeal trial for both Ravi and Nafla, both of whom have been charged with violating the Military Service Act.
Nafla had been previously sentenced to a one-year prison term at the first trial last August, a ruling he promptly appealed. The artist appeared in court draped in a shroud during the trial.
The prosecution representative, reacting to Nafla's appeal, noted that his substantial transgressions have hindered the actual execution of official duties. The prosecution nevertheless found it unjust that he was acquitted of charges related to obstruction of official duties.
Nafla's legal team responded by arguing that it was problematic to assert that his circumstances regarding the application for discharge from military service led to any obstruction of official duties, interference with hierarchies, or disruption of conscription procedures. They maintained that Nafla was partially not guilty due to legal principle misunderstandings and misconceptions, further insisting that the original sentencing was unjust.
While some defendants, including Ravi, who did not require additional arguments proceeded with the trial, Nafla, on the other hand, sought medical history facts, additional witness questioning, and presentation opportunities through his lawyer. The prosecution requested to witness an interrogation of the Military Manpower Administration's military service decision doctor. Although the court granted the request, the witnesses named by Nafla will testify following the aforementioned interrogation.
Nafla also has a previous record stemming from marijuana use, from which he received a deferred sentence in 2019. In 2020, a similar offense attracted a sentence of 10 months in prison and two years probation for the singer.
So he basically saying that the day off were for actual mediacal reason? I don't get it
