Star News recently commemorated its 19th anniversary, marking nearly two decades of comprehensive entertainment coverage. The news organization was established on September 1, 2004, a time when the entertainment scene was just beginning to witness a surge in celebrity activities. Looking back, it's evident that entertainers’ roles have magnificently broadened, shaping the modern entertainment realm.
The escalating number of "multi-entertainers," particularly among idol singers who have now ventured into acting and other creative sectors, is clear evidence of this evolution.
Unlike in previous years, when the term "actor-singer" was merely tagged as a label, it is now acknowledged as a significant marker of versatility and talent. Currently, it is a coveted title that suggests a high level of star power coupled with exceptional acting skills, thereby exponentially increasing an artist's appeal and marketability.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, Star News conducted a survey among 31 industry experts, including representatives from entertainment management companies and production houses. The purpose of the survey was to identify those actor-singers who have had a momentous impact on the industry this year, and those who hold promising potential for the future. Each industry expert was asked to pick two idol actors.
So here are the top male idol actors chosen by industry experts:
Rank 5 - 2PM's Ok Taecyeon, U-KISS' Lee Jun Young (1 votes each)
Rank 4 - SF9's Rowoon, ZE:A's Park Hyung Sik (2 votes each)
Rank 3 - ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo (4 votes)
Rank 2 - ZE:A's Siwan, EXO's D.O. (11 votes each)
Rank 1 - 2PM's Lee Jun Ho (21 votes)
Not including GOT7's Jinyoung is ridiculous.
