Kim Taehyung, aka V of BTS, has made history with his debut solo album 'Layover.'
On the Hanteo Chart, "Layover" earned 2,101,974 sales in its first week, breaking the record for the highest first-week sales by a solo artist.
'Layover' also became the first solo album in 23 years, since Jo Sung-mo's 'Let Me Love' in 2000, to surpass 2 million copies sold.
On the Circle Chart (formerly Gaon), 'Layover' sold 2,010,678 copies in the first two weeks, becoming the first album by a solo artist to surpass 2 million copies in the chart's history.
With this achievement, Taehyung made history by becoming the first soloist to simultaneously sell over 2 million copies on both the Hanteo and Circle (Gaon) charts within just two weeks of release.
Additionally, according to Hanteo's real-time country music chart aggregation, Taehyung also became the first solo artist to simultaneously top the Hanteo country charts in the US, Japan, and China.
Regarding his album, Taehyung said, "I've stripped away the flashy elements to showcase the natural colors that I, as a person, possess," and added, "Everything I love and excel at is encapsulated in this album."

Congratulations Taehyung! I knew that velvet baritone would smash records but am amazed at how well received all the songs are. Beautiful! 💜
