Former TEEN TOP member C.A.P candidly shared the reality of being a male idol and confessed that male idols would get sexually harassed by fans.
C.A.P recently held a live stream where he talked about the reality of being an idol. The live stream was recorded, and a video titled, "Since when did idol become a quasi-love job?" was uploaded on his YouTube channel.
During the live stream, he shared, "I honestly share what I felt while being an idol for 14 years. Who is the one getting eaten up in the idol culture? The reason I think the idol culture is getting sick is because of corporate brainwashing." He continued, "The idol trainees are brainwashed by their companies that they can't date, smoke, or drink. Because the companies invest in them but if they do those things, they'll get ruined."
C.A.P added, "During your trainee days, you do physical labor. Then after your debut, it's emotional labor. The people you never imagined curse at you and throw rocks at you. They write malicious comments, but they think it's advice. They try to teach you. That's how you get sick from the inside." He pointed out that the advice that these self-proclaimed fans are not actually advice, but it's what causes idols to suffer mentally.
He also claimed that being an idol is like a quasi-love job and explained that these idols now sell fantasies. He shared, "Idols became idols because they simply wanted to sing and dance. But then these companies need to create fantasies to sell them. Why did it become a quasi-love job?"
C.A.P went on to share that he suffered sexual harassment from these so-called fans during fan-meeting events. He explained, "They (fans) say they love you and say hold my hand and link arms. These ****** even sexually harass you. Damn it. Geez...They sexually harass. Really. Male idols don't get sexually harassed? That's not it. They really get sexually harassed."
He continued to share some details and said, "They touch your butt and there are some people who reveal their chest to you. Man... that's when you start to lose it mentally. That's when you start to doubt if this is for you. There aren't just a few things that happen that make you lose your mind: you get cursed at online, get stoned, and then you're sexually harassed offline and weird people request all sorts of things from you. Woah..."
Delulus thinking they own idols are the worst. Being a fan does not grant you any right to their body, hearts, or whatever else. Some people need a reality check on healthy boundaries.
