According to media outlet reports on August 31 KST, actor Park Jung Min and BLACKPINK's Jisoo have been offered leading roles in a new Coupang Play original series, 'Influenza'.
Co-written by Han Ji Won ('Parasite') and Ji Ho Jin, 'Influenza' tells the story of a soldier and his girlfriend, who break up immediately before the world is overtaken by a zombie apocalypse. The drama's story is be based off of a novel by Han Sang Woon.
Park Jung Min has been offered the role of Jae Yoon, a young man who enlisted for his mandatory military service at the late age of 26 after several attempts to avoid the draft. He's a worrywart who's uncertain about his future and his relationship, and so he decides to break up with his girlfriend to lessen his worries. Meanwhile, the outside world is overrun by zombies.
Jisoo has been offered the role of Jae Yoon's girlfriend Young Joo, who has her hands full with an unreliable, unconfident boyfriend. At his request to break up, Young Joo sets out to fight through the hoards of zombies and see her boyfriend.
What do you think of the premise of 'Influenza' so far?
The thing for me is when there are lots of genres to act in so someone can be a good actor but just haven’t found the right roles for them. Jisoo is entertaining in clips I have seen on YT, I think comedy roles or a homebody character that some viewers can relate to would suit her. To me her SD acting felt like she was reading the script while also thinking about her actions… it wasn’t natural and the other actors (senior and rookie) made it more obvious for me that she is lacking. She can get better she just might need to find roles that suit her. As for PJM the guy can take on any role and deliver every time
