Nam Tae Hyun shared how his drug addiction ruined his life on KBS's 'In-Depth 60 Minutes.'
On the July 14th episode of 'In-Depth 60 Minutes,' Nam Tae Hyun was seen getting treatment at a rehab. He shared how his drug addiction ruined his life.
He opened up about how he first started using the drug. "I took a lot of prescription pills from a psychiatrist. When I was promoting, I took many diet pills as well to keep the weight low. My depression got worse during the pandemic as I wasn't booked as much. That's when I first started using the drug. After the first try, it didn't take me long looking for a stronger one. I think I didn't give it much thought before trying it out because I was so used to taking prescription pills. I simply thought hard drugs would be similar."
Nam Tae Hyun continued, "At first I got it through a friend, and then I moved on to Telegram. Now, all I have is yearning for drugs. My relationship with my family was ruined and I don't have any friends or acquaintances. I'm not even sure I should continue living."
His drug addiction didn't only ruin his mental and physical health. His financials were ruined as well. Nam Tae Hyun said, "I got a message saying I have unpaid credit card debt of 300,000 KRW (about $236 USD). I literally am broke. I'm thinking of starting working at a restaurant. My debt alone is about 500 million KRW (about $393K USD). I breached many contracts due to my drug use being publicized. I had to sell my house and my parent's house. Everything is gone."

He took the first step to get clean, and that’s to get help. Addiction is a disease and it’s hard to overcome. I pray that he gets better and is given another chance.
