In an interview about his latest series, Netflix's 'Celebrity,' actor Lee Dong Gun explained that the world of social media was unfamiliar to him, and he had doubts about his ability to navigate it successfully.
'Celebrity,' which was released on June 30 KST, explores the glamorous and cutthroat aspects of celebrity life and delves into the influence of social media and the emerging aristocracy of influencers.
Speaking about his role in the film, Lee Dong Gun commented, "When I first read the script, I found it to be well-crafted and captivating. However, I couldn't help but wonder if I could do justice to the character. I questioned whether I could outperform other actors or effectively showcase my strengths while concealing my weaknesses."
Interestingly, Lee admitted that he learned more about social media through his involvement in 'Celebrity.' He confessed to frequently searching on popular portal sites like Naver and Google to gain a better understanding of this world. He added, "It's comforting to observe this world from a distance, as portrayed in the script for 'Celebrity.' The immense power held by influencers became apparent to me, and I realized how absurd it can be to chase popularity. That's why I found the experience of filming 'Celebrity' even more enjoyable, despite not being familiar with this world."
When asked about his personal approach to social media, Lee Dong Gun revealed that he doesn't operate any social media accounts. He cited a lack of confidence in taking pictures and showcasing himself as the primary reason for his decision. "I don't have a natural inclination to take many pictures of myself or force myself to engage in social media. I lack the confidence to do so," he confessed.
However, Lee Dong Gun also added, "I constantly imagine what it would be like, and I genuinely want to give it a try and do it well."

Why disclose your personal life when your personal life will do nothing but damage? But just from an objective pov and ignoring that its him I guess it is nice to see actors being able to still stay relevant and be offered work even without the internet clout, nowdays even in Hollywood it seems like that's the only thing people care about.
