Baek Yebin, a former member of the group DIA, recently made an announcement regarding the filing of a complaint against malicious commenters. On July 25 KST, Baek Yebin's agency, YamYam Entertainment, released an official statement. They expressed their concern over the continuous circulation of malicious comments and posts containing false information that targeted their artist. The agency stated that this had reached an intolerable level and, as a result, they had collected evidence and data through careful monitoring and reporting.
In order to address these persistent issues, YamYam Entertainment revealed that they had filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul. YamYam Entertainment has made it clear that they will not engage in any form of compromise or leniency. In fact, they have firmly stated their commitment to taking strong legal action to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
You can read YamYam Entertainment's full statement below.
"Currently, indiscriminate malicious comments and posts based on false facts such as continuous personal attacks, malicious comments, sexual harassment, and stalking are being posted toward our artist Baek Yebin. As a result, we determined that it had reached a level that could no longer be tolerated, so we secured evidence and data through monitoring and reporting.
Recently, we filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on charges of violating Article 44-7 Paragraph 1 Item 1 of the Information and Communications Network Act against those who continuously wrote socially unacceptable malicious comments and posts in communities and social media.
Even for posts deleted immediately after writing to avoid leaving evidence, the posts were captured and collected through real-time monitoring and delivered to the investigative agency.
We inform you that there will be no agreement or leniency in the process of legal action regarding the infringement of artist rights, and we will take strong legal action to prevent similar damage from occurring. We are continuing to monitor, and we ask for active reports from fans through our artist's legal response account.
We will continue to do our best to protect the rights and interests of our actors and artists."
Hopefully they'll have the same results as starship did!
