In the JTBC entertainment program 'Salty Pawn Shop,' which aired on July 18, celebrities Chaerina, Narsha, Dara, and Chaeryeong appeared as guests.
On this day, Dara took out a precious item to her and began sharing a story. It was an old foldable phone, which she had been a spokesperson for in 2009, and she said, "This is the phone that was taken from me by the CEO at the time and then returned to me." She continued, "I lost it because of Kwon Ji Yong (G-Dragon)," creating curiosity.
Dara reminisced, saying, "At that time, I was very popular after I debuted. I received a lot of calls from men here and there. Honestly, I had to hide it from the CEO. But the thing is, I ignored all the calls from men. I didn't respond and didn't pick up the calls." She revealed that there was a man, who was greatly disappointed because she didn't respond or answer his calls. This man was a top celebrity younger than her, and he went to G-Dragon to complain about Dara not receiving his calls.
She added, "After hearing that story, GD felt happy. It's the first girl group that came out of YG Entertainment, and it's something to be proud of. He felt, his Nuna (Dara) who is part of this group turned down someone like him (the top celebrity). So he started to tell everyone that I turned someone. And our CEO heard this rumor." Dara explained that the CEO thought that the members were contacting other men, so he confiscated the phone.
Dara then said, "I spent several months without a phone," and when one of the MCs mentioned that GD must have felt sorry, she honestly replied, "I don't think he felt sorry."
Hong Jin Kyung then asked, "Is he (G-Dragon) always talkative?" and Yoon Jong Sik scolded her, saying, "Are you only curious about GD?" which brought laughter.
Dara shared that G-Dragon had looked after 2NE1 since they were his juniors despite being older. She said, "Although we are older, we were still his junior group. Since we debuted after Big Bang, GD took great care of us. He did everything from finding stylists to giving advice on our outfits and stage performances."
Meanwhile, 'Salty Pawn Shop' is a talk show program where celebrities share their valuable belongings that they pawned and talk about their honest life stories from the past.
Man I've always wondered what could've been of 2NE1 had that jerk not neglect them for Blackpink. Both groups could have co-existed just fine! In fact, that would've been amazing. I hate agencies who abandon their golden egg just for the 'new thing'. Something tells me it's gonna happen to BP as well with Baby Monster debut. 🙃
