Just as predicted by industry experts, the FIFTY FIFTY controversy is growing to an even larger scale.
Amidst the legal battle between FIFTY FIFTY, The Givers, and ATTRAKT, Dispatch released an article recently alleging that The Givers' CEO Ahn Sung Il had forged the signatures of "Cupid" overseas songwriters to transfer the copyright to himself.
On July 18, The Givers released a statement refuting the allegations and emphatically stated, "We want to make it clear that we acquired the copyright for 'Cupid' through a legitimate process via our music publisher. We aim to eliminate any confusion and convey the objective facts surrounding the copyright acquisition."
Nevertheless, the public is still skeptical of The Givers' claims. Many pointed out that the explanation given by The Givers still didn't clarify certain questions that arose about the copyright controversy.
Adding to the growing controversy, popular YouTuber Gamsung Sound recently conducted an interview with an alleged uncle of Ahn Sung Il, the CEO of The Givers. According to the uncle, his nephew has been involved in scams since he was young.
Gamsung Sound released a video in which he discussed his meeting with Ahn Sung Il's uncle, who had approached him. During their conversation, the uncle shared his perspective on the recent incident involving his nephew.
The video started with Ahn Sung Il's uncle stating, "I told him, 'Even from my point of view, you did something wrong.' Do you think the public would remain silent?" He claimed that he advised his nephew, Ahn Sung Il, to apologize for his wrongdoings, acknowledging that the public can see through his deceitful actions.
The uncle revealed that Ahn Sung Il's relatives already refer to him as a sagikoon (Korean word for scam artist) due to their prior experiences with him. He remarked, "They all call him a 'scammer.' They all say, 'Oh, the scammer is here' whenever he arrives." Gamsung Sound clarified that the uncle and Ahn Sung Il's family have a history of financial disputes, which he will reveal through proper means.
The YouTuber also highlighted Ahn Sung Il's lack of remorse for causing the controversy, as he adamantly refuses to admit his wrongdoing.
During the conversation, the uncle shed light on Ahn Sung Il's attitude. Gamsung Sound asked him, "Do you think he (Ahn Sung Il) intends to continue with his current stance until the end?" To which Ahn Sung Il's uncle responded, "Oh yes, of course. I think so." The uncle further remarked, "The girls are only 18 or 19 years old. How many 19-year-olds would know about legal terms like a provisional injunction to suspend contracts? The person who manipulated all this is Ahn Sung Il."
According to the uncle, Ahn Sung Il manipulated the members' families into registering trademarks and pursuing legal action. He also expressed Ahn Sung Il's confidence in the girls winning the legal battle against ATTRAKT.
The uncle shared, "I advised Sung Il to resolve the issue with CEO Jun and send the girls to him. He should leave (the picture). Their side also wants to protect the girls. So he should let go of what is necessary and take responsibility for his actions. I told him to admit his wrongdoings." However, the uncle revealed that Ahn Sung Il firmly believes he has done nothing wrong.
Gamsung Sound further clarified the uncle's claims, stating, "So Ahn Sung Il doesn't believe he has done anything wrong. He believes that FIFTY FIFTY didn't gain much popularity in Korea anyway. Just as we Koreans are unaware of major incidents involving overseas celebrities and simply enjoy their music, he believes that whatever happens in Korea will go unnoticed by the world."
The interview with the uncle will probably be in episode 3 or 4 of the FIFTY FIFTY scandal documentary.
