Sportscasters for Hwang Jae Gyun's recent baseball game is receiving criticism for their presumptuous comments about T-ara's Jiyeon.
On an online forum, netizens gathered to discuss two sports announcers who made 'nonstop' comments about Jiyeon's alleged homecooked meals for Hwang Jae Gyun. She had come to her husband's game to support him in person, and whenever the camera spotted her, the two male announcers constantly made live comments about her 'homecooked meals':
- "I'm sure he [Hwang Jae Gyun] wants to do better now that he has a wife."
- "Of course, because his side dishes change when he gets home."
- "What kind of side dishes will he get tonight?"
When Hwang Jae Gyun was tagged out of the game, the casters continued:
- "There are still a few more chances left for him to see a change in his side dishes at home!"
The original uploader of the forum post added that the two casters made more comments about Jiyeon following this conversation, which "only revolved around dinner, food, and side dishes."
Netizens expressed that they were 'appalled' to see these comments presumptuous made with gender-based notions about 'wives' and 'husbands.' In criticizing the two male announcers, the netizens wrote:
"What a series of rude comments made to someone else's partner"
"You two didn't do anything right today so you can just eat rocks on your way home"
"You two can just go home and eat soy sauce for making such rude comments today"
"I guess inside you people's brains the only image of a 'wife' is putting food on the table for the husband?"
"OMG why should Jiyeon make food for anyone"
"Even if she does cook for him, what does that have to do with him doing well in his game? What is it to you guys?"
"Even old grandpas wouldn't say those thing these days..."
"Hwang Jae Gyun himself doesn't even care about these things and he always said he doesn't expect anything from her"
"What era are they living in"
"Have you guys even seen Jiyeon's own career"
"So rude...if Jiyeon finds out, she wouldn't even want to come to any of his games from now on"
What are your thoughts?
Well, that's just rude. I think the seemingly innocent "side dishes" jokes were actually sexual innuendos. Those 2 need to at least get days of suspension, of course without pay.
