What is the secret behind SHINee's "Juliette"?
During SHINee's recent fan meeting, Key and Onew revealed a hilarious portion of the original lyrics from their 2011 song, "Juliette." The lyrics were eventually written by Jonghyun, who was inspired by the film, 'Romeo and Juliet.'
In the fan meeting, Key and Onew shared that the original lyrics for the chorus of "Juliette" was: "Zi-zi-zik, oh! I have been electrocuted by you~." If Jonghyun had not come up with the inspiration from the movie, the lyrics might have permanently remained that way.
The onomatopoeia "zi-zi-zik" was meant to mimic the sound and the experience of electricity instantly running through the body.
This line was later changed to what is currently in the song as "Juliette, oh! I will give my soul to you," which formed the basis of the album's entire concept.
Netizens responded hilariously, with comments such as:
"Wow, it almost became the official song of the Korea Electric Power Corporation"
"If these lyrics had come out, then they wouldn't have released f(x)'s 'Electrick Shock'"
"Whoa...Jonghyun....thank you"
"Jonghyun did something SO important yet again"
"So, the title might have been 'Zi-zi-zik'?"
"Amigo, ZiZiZik, Ring Ding Dong, Lucifer...lol"
"Thank you, Jonghyun"
