Police have decided to request an arrest warrant for actor Yoo Ah In, who is currently facing charges for abusing at five illegal drugs.
According to reports on May 19 KST, the drug crime investigation unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police made the decision to request an arrest warrant based on the belief that the actor's side may attempt to destroy evidence.
Yoo Ah In, who has been summoned for two questionings thus far, has continually denied the allegations that he deliberately abused illegal drugs. First, regarding the allegations that he abused propofol for approximately 2 years since 2021, the actor's side claimed that all uses were for "medical purposes". The actor's side further claimed that ketamine and zolpidem were also administered or prescribed solely for "medical purposes", while denying the use of cocaine completely. Regarding his positive test for methamphetamine, Yoo Ah In's side claimed that he was "offered it by a friend," and thus his use of it was not deliberate.
Based on Yoo Ah In's continued denial of all charges, police have determined that an arrest warrant would eliminate any attempts to interfere with evidence in Yoo Ah In's favor.
Meanwhile, immediately after his first questioning in March of this year, Yoo Ah In commented, "Despite the fact that my actions will come across to many as uncomfortable and unsettling, I would like to consider those actions as opportunities I took in order to lead a healthier life, the kind of life that I was not able to enjoy much."
I mean, if his side were to destroy their evidence, they would have already done it by now.
