Recently, netizens and even music critics raised suspicions that LE SSERAFIM strongly references the Spanish singer Rosalía.
Recently, netizens were buzzing about the similarities between Rosalía and LE SSERAFIM's choreography, stating that the K-pop group's dance moves for "ANTIFRAGILE" was closely similar to Rosalía's "Chicken Teriyaki."
Then music critics also discussed on the possibility of the issue persisting in the girl group's first studio album 'UNFORGIVEN.' According to four music critics, LE SSERAFIM has been exuding Rosalía vibes overall. They pointed out that the new album "was a continuation of 'ANTIFRAGILE' at first. There are distinct differences, especially in the parts such as the funky bass-inspired notes laid by Nile Rogers, but overall you just can't help but notice that it carries over those same vibes from 'ANTIFRAGILE'."
Nevertheless, LE SSERAFIM denied the similarities during their showcase commemorating the release of their first studio album 'UNFORGIVEN.' The showcase was held at the Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, at 2 PM on May 1. The girls were asked about their similarities to Rosalía but denied the accusations.
Kim Chaewon responded as a representative of the group, saying, "LE SSERAFIM's songs and concepts are songs that contain our stories and messages. So, we would appreciate it if you consider them as unique creations."
Meanwhile, LE SSERAFIM is releasing their first full-length album a year after their debut. The theme of the new album 'UNFORGIVEN' is the determination to pave the way for the group, regardless of others' evaluations. The album includes a total of 13 tracks, including songs from their previous mini-albums that were re-recorded.
Additionally, all members participated in writing the lyrics for the b-side track "Between You, Me, and the Lamppost," while Huh Yunjin participated in producing the song.
Any similarities can be attributed to the fact that they used the same producer as Rosalia. You cannot copyright a "vibe".
