Q: First, we should hear what made you decide to apply to the idol survival show 'Peak Time.'
Bitsaeon shared, "A little over a month after I was discharged from the military, I heard that 'Peak Time' was recruiting teams. I thought this was an opportunity. During military service, I didn't do anything related to music for a year and a half. but when I saw the music in front of my eyes, I had the heart to take on the challenge. It wasn't too long since I was discharged from the military, and I had the confidence that I can do anything. Our company doesn't have a lot of capital and it's not large, so we hit a wall in terms of music promotion and marketing. So I made a decision after being discharged from the military. I thought to promote the group myself and busking in the streets. That's how much we were thirsty to be on stage. When we came on 'Peak Time' it felt like the time has come."
Heejae also shared, "I came to know about Peak Time during the military. My members contacted me a week before I was discharged and asked if I wanted to go on the show. At that time, I wasn't confident and wasn't sure if I should try to be an idol again. I wasn't going to apply but the other members told me to think about it one last time."
Hankyul explained, "I was hesitant at first. Because aside from my team, I already had a lot of experience being on survival programs. But this is the first time for my team members. So I really contemplated what our team can gain from appearing on the show. I also thought this would be my last chance. Of course, I always had that sincerity in everything. So I thought it was a good idea to apply for the members, and also for myself."
Q: Let's think back to the survival round first performance. If you were disqualified there, it was an automatic disqualification from the show. Was there something special you considered while preparing for such an important stage?
D1 answered, "We looked for a lot of songs. Then ATEEZ's 'The Real' popped into my head. We are a hip-hop performance group so the musical style that we have is similar to ATEEZ. We also thought we need to make a strong impression and also show the team's identity so we chose that song. We had the heart to show us enjoying the stage while creating a performance that is in our style."
Hyesung shared, "This was the first stage to introduce the team to the public so we narrowed it down to 20 songs that can show our team the best. The reason we chose Seventeen's 'Adore U' is because we wanted to express the message that 'we adore the stage'. We had to do our company's work and also work part-time so we might look pitiful. But we didn't want that to reflect on stage so we smiled brightly. We wanted to share bright energy with those who are watching."
Jong Up explained, "I also thought the same. We are confident when it comes to dancing but we can't choose a song just to show that. So we considered a song that can show a dynamic balance. That's the reason why we chose Seventeen's 'Anyone'. We can show various things through that song."
There were soo many good groups on this show, so many I became a fan of. The visuals, the talent, everything is there. The Final 6 exudes all of that. I really hope they all gain more fans and are able to overcome any fears or troubles. I am wishing the best for Vanner after all they have been through and hopes this opens NEW doors for them.
