In just a few more hours, MONSTA X's Shownu will return to fans as he will be discharged after completing his mandatory military service on April 21, KST.
Shownu, a member of the popular K-pop group MONSTA X, began his alternative military service as a social worker on July 22, 2021. This decision was made after he was diagnosed with a retinal detachment in his left eye in July 2020, which rendered him ineligible for active service due to undergoing surgery.
Before starting his military duty, Shownu expressed his sentiments about enlisting, stating, "It feels like I debuted just yesterday, but before I knew it, it's time for me to serve in the army. Up until now, I've worked hard and had good and difficult times, and I've been with my members and fans all along. During that time, the love and support I've received from my fans were invaluable things that cannot be exchanged between people."
He said, "Thank you for allowing me to experience and feel many things while promoting with MONSTA X. I will do my best to repay all the support and love. I hope you continue to enjoy Monsta X and Shownu's future activities. Thank you for reminding me that I can live a new day every day. Always be happy and healthy. See you soon." These heartfelt words showcase Shownu's gratitude towards his fans and his eagerness to return to his duties after completing his military service.
Shownu is the first member of MONSTA X to fulfill his military duty, with Minhyuk enlisted this month on the 4th. Although the group is currently incomplete, Shownu's return will undoubtedly bring new energy and excitement to MONSTA X's future activities.
at least one good thing is happening this week.
