In light of the news that Yoo Ah In had tested positive for types of drugs, including propofol, cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis, past interviews of the actor are garnering much attention. In these past interviews, Yoo Ah In is presumed to have already shown symptoms of drug addiction.
Seung Jae Hyun, a senior researcher at the Korea Criminal Justice Policy Institute, appeared on YTN's 'News Rider' which aired on March 2 and talked about Yoo Ah In's past interviews. The senior researcher interpreted Yoo Ah In's actions as showing symptoms of drug addiction.
In the interview done in November 2021, Yoo Ah In showed excessive reactions such as suddenly laughing, frowning, or tilting his head while answering the interview questions.
The MC of 'News Rider' shared, "At that time, I think many people believed he was being like that because he is an actor. But looking back now, there are opinions that say his gestures are quite odd."
Senior researcher Seung Jae Hyun then explained, "I don't know under what circumstances those stories came out, but according to the police's estimate of how long Yoo Ah In was administering drugs, he had been taking drugs for two years. If he had interviews like that in between, then (his gestures) are what we call 'tick' for drug users. It refers to a form in which the drug user repeats a certain gesture. So we see this kind of 'tak-tak-tak' movement. Seeing those aspects, I think that he was already addicted at that time."
The researcher then added, "It's important to severely punish the people who do drugs but it is more important for them to receive rehabilitation treatment so that they never touch drugs again. However, there is a lack of rehabilitation treatment facilities in Korea. I believe rehabilitation facilities should be built on top of giving severe punishment."
Oh he was definitely on something there. The face twitching and eye widening gave it away.
