Actor Lee Sung Min wanted to show a different side of himself from his work 'Reborn Rich' through the movie 'The Devil's Deal'.
On February 2, a press conference for the production of 'The Devil's Deal' was held in Seoul. Director Lee Won Tae was joined by actors Cho Jin Woong, Lee Sung Min, and Kim Moo Yeol to discuss their upcoming project.
'The Devil's Deal' is a crime drama set in Busan in 1992 in which the characters all hold secret documents that can completely shake up the Republic of Korea. The characters engage in a fierce competition to change the game in their favor.
Lee Sung Min plays the character Sun Tae, a secretive hidden political figure. The character will also exhibit physical traits, such a limping gait and a beard. Director Lee shared, "Lee Sung Min directly proposed the appearance at the beginning of the meeting. He read the scenario and thought a lot about the character."
Lee Sung Min was greatly loved for playing Chairman Jin Yang Cheol in the previous drama 'Reborn Rich'. At that time, he was praised for speaking in a dialect as well as taking on a character that was much older than he was. He was also hailed for his charismatic emotional acting.
Regarding the difference between Chairman Jin Yang Cheol and Soon Tae, Lee Sung Min said, "Everything about their life and work are different. The only similarity is that they speak in the same dialect." He also continued on to say, "When you watch the movie, you may think of Jin Yang Cheol, but I think you'll be able to feel Sun Tae's unique characterization. I'm looking forward to being seen as Sun Tae."
'The Devil's Deal' will be released on March 1.
