On December 22 KST, the main cast of TVING's new original series 'Island' attended the press conference held at one hotel located in Seoul. Here, Kim Nam Gil, Lee Da Hee, ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo, and Sung Joon joined director Bae Jong to discuss their characters. 'Island' is a drama remake of the original webtoon of the same title, and it depicts the journey of the main characters who are destined to fight against evil forces out to destroy the world.
Director Bae Jong stated, "The original [webtoon] is limited in its explanation of the characters, so we made a story to the extent that it is acceptable in the drama [remake]." He added, "It was a fascinating experience. It was the first time all of [the cast members] raised their hands [expressing their desires] to play the role. Cha Eun Woo waited [for his role] since a year and a half ago, and told me of [his interest]. The casting process was much easier than I thought it would be, so it made me feel a greater sense of responsibility." In 'Island', Bahn (played by Kim Nam Gil) is a character who was raised to fight against evil and endured thousands of years to fight the evil spirit that attacked Jeju Island, Mi Ho (played by Lee Da Hee) is a woman who finds herself intertwined with Bahn's fate, John (played by Cha Eu Woo) is a young priest who practices exorcisms on earth, and Goong Tan (played by Sung Joon) is a character who was raised, like Bahn, to fight evil but ends up turning against Bahn for unrevealed reasons.
'Island' will premiere through TVING on December 30 KST.
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF this TV Kdrama series "Island" be aired on any other streaming channels besides TVING? I'm in the US and a VIKI subscriber. So I'm hoping it will be available to view on VIKI!
