(G)I-DLE's Soyeon is being praised for her past mentorship in 'My Teenage Girl,' mentoring a new leader of a girl group.
In 2021, (G)I-DLE's Leader Jeon Soyeon became a Mentor on the MBC survival show 'My Teenage Girl,' which produced the girl group CLASS:y.
In the first episode, some contestants who were eliminated were able to be brought back into the show in each grade. For Soyeon's grade, she brought back contestants Jo Yujeong, Kim Yooyeon, and Song Yerim.
Kim Yooyeon was brought back into the show because Soyeon said when I do a search for the show, Yooyeon would always appear first, and a girl group needs someone who can attract attention to the group.
Throughout the show, Kim Yooyeon was always one of the contestants who received the most votes. Soyeon was sometimes quite strict with Yooyeon because of the fact that she was lacking but still continued to mentor and back Yooyeon despite never having idol training.
Unfortunately, Yooyeon placed 8th in the show and was unable to debut in CLASS:y.
However, On October 28, 2022, Yooyeon debuted in the girl group tripleS and became the leader of the sub-unit Acid Angel from Asia.
tripleS fans are praising the 4th Grade Mentor (G)I-DLE Soyeon for mentoring Yooyeon for her group-leading skills that she developed only 6 months after My Teenage Girl ended.
Yooyeon stated she became the leader of the group because she would always be the person who would say "1..2" before their group greeting, "Hi tripleS!" the board of directors said that Yooyeon should be the leader because of this, and the Acid Angel from Asia members agreed.
