Girls' Generation revealed how they picked their dorm roommates.
On the July 26th episode of 'Soshi Tamtam', Girls' Generation returned to their dorm life together, and the members paired up into roommates. Taeyeon and Tiffany, Sunny and Yuri, Hyoyeon and Seohyun, and finally Sooyoung and YoonA decided to room together.
In the process, the girl group talked about how they first chose their roommates when they made their debut. They revealed, "At first, the label chose roommates for us, but then we chose by drawing straws. We pretended to be cool, but all of us wanted the nice room."
They continued, "It's because we had to use that room for 2 years after the decision was made. The lease was that long."

You have to live with your chosen room mate for 2 years, sleeping in the same room.. so of cos everyone wanted a room or a room mate, that he or she likes or is comfortable with.
