Having been in the K-Pop industry for over a year, PIXY has already shown tremendous development and growth from its debut to where they are now. The ladies of PIXY never fail to amaze and shock everyone when they return to the scene, nailing dark and horror-like concepts.

The sextet under Allart Entertainment consists of Ella, Lola, Satbyeol, Dia, Sua, and Dajeong, who made their strong entrance into the K-Pop scene on February 24, 2021, with the digital single "Wings." The girls have already left a mark in the audience's minds and hearts, wanting them to return as they can't wait to see where PIXY goes in the future. Following their debut, the band released more addictive tracks, such as the fantastical and magical sounding single "Let Me Know," the powerful banger song "Addicted," and the dark pop-sounding track "Bewitched," to name a few.

Not only is their music something to look out for, but their vocals, dancing, and rapping abilities make each of their comebacks that much more exciting as time passes. Plus, the noteworthy and interesting dance choreographies will leave you speechless with how insanely difficult and satisfying it is to watch them, especially if they will perform live on stage.

Continuing to point to a bright future for PIXY, the sextet is back with another album that will allow them to showcase more of their own musical talents as well as their "not usual" K-Pop concept. They started strong and kept going strong. 'REBORN (Dark City Episode 01)' is their third mini-album, and it contains tracks you won't want to miss.

Unfortunately, Ella was unable to participate in the long-awaited comeback as she needed to focus on her health to recover.

Five of the PIXY members sat down with allkpop to discuss their newest album 'REBORN,' the title track "Villain," what their journey has been like, who inspires them the most in the industry, and more. Keep reading to know more about PIXY!

allkpop: First and foremost, congratulations on the release of your new album, 'REBORN!' PIXY's storyline is fantastic, and your fans have always been keen to know what PIXY will do next. Can you tell us more about your comeback? Is your upcoming album related to your previous releases? 

Dajeong: After PIXY's journey in the Fairy Forest, we started to have nightmares over and over again about something. Our previous album ended with the butterfly, who protected us, that had its wings torn. And to find the butterfly, we gathered as "villains." So this comeback with 'REBORN' is a story about embarking on a new journey again. 

Satbyeol: In this comeback, PIXY is "reborn" as fairies in the past.

allkpop: You've previously stated that you'd like to help produce an album in the future. Did any of the members contribute to the album this time around, be it in production, choreography, songwriting, or anything else? 

Dia: We normally contribute significantly to our music choreography, but in this case, we worked hard on a very different kind of concept, so we were experiencing something new and taking on a new challenge.

allkpop: Could you tell us how did you prepare for this comeback? How did the creative process for this album differ from your previous work? 

Dia: We are attempting to express a new concept through a new genre and style on this album. And this concept is more modern and sleek, which we want to convey while maintaining the PIXY figure.

allkpop: Could you please tell us more about the album's title song, "Villain"? What do you think is the song's greatest strength? 

Sua: Filming this song shows the concept of our album's title, 'Dark City,' which is quite different from our past fantasy-based concepts.

Dajeong: And so, as mentioned before, this one is sleek and modern, and it portrays a lot of our ethereal beauty. We find this comeback different from the styles we displayed in our previous comebacks.

allkpop: Except for "Villain" and its instrumental version, PIXY released five more new songs. Which B-side is your favorite, and if not "Villain," what other song would you have chosen as the album's title track? 

Satbyeol: I choose the B-side track "Greetings"! It is a song dedicated to our fans, WINXYs.

Dia: I recommend the song "Natural" because it is very modern and different from other genres and our previous genres.

Sua: I would recommend the song "Deja Vu" because the more you listen to it, the more addicted you become to it.

Dajeong: I recommend the song "Swan Song" because it actually has this rock style, and it actually helps you release stress, so I highly recommend it.

Lola: I recommend the track "Breath" because it has the same dark fantasy concept as our previous concepts, and it is more comfortable and smoother to listen to.

allkpop: What are the most important aspects of your comeback that fans should take note of? What message do you want your fans and listeners to take away from the album? 

Dajeong: This is actually our longest waiting period between our comebacks. We always put a lot of energy and effort into our releases. Since our fans have waited for this comeback the longest, we put all our energy and efforts into making this happen. And we also want to give back to our fans who have been patient. We also want people to tune into our comeback.

allkpop: What or who are your sources of inspiration? Who do you admire the most in the industry? 

Lola: My source of inspiration is (G)I-DLE! Their concepts are all unique and are not the same as others. (G)I-DLE and PIXY have different concepts, but we also have some certain similarities.

Satbyeol: I draw inspiration from Jessi, especially because of her confidence and performance.

Dia: BLACKPINK is my huge source of inspiration, and I learn a lot from them, especially when I see their stage manners and expressions.

allkpop: Are there any interesting and memorable behind-the-scenes stories that you would like to share? 

Lola: I think my favorite memory is when Satbyeol made funny hand gestures. They were all examined through the monitor, but actually, the monitor was not perfectly in sync with the sound, so there was a delay. It was kind of separated, so Satbyeol's hand gestures are hilarious.

Satbyeol made the hand gestures and sang the line "Why don't you stop." [laughs]

allkpop: How has your artistic growth and journey been? Is there anything you've learned from your journey?

Dia: We started as PIXY with nothing more than just passion, strength, and energy. As we progress on releasing more music, I believe we have become more relaxed and have discovered more of our comfort and charisma. For example, when we practice as a group, we take less time to dance in sync. In addition, for the choreography and vocals, we are now trying to find our own colors as artists.

allkpop: Is there any music genre you'd like to try, like a cute and bubbly concept, or do you want to stick to releasing a dark, horror-like, and bold concept? 

Satbyeol: I would love to do a cute, bright, and bubbly concept. I always mention that I've wanted to try that out.

Dajeong: I wanted to experiment with a chic-like, bubbly concept. I really enjoy that, and I'll be very much down to trying that concept again.

Sua: I've always wanted to try a modern and sleek concept like the one behind this comeback. I was also very happy that we would be able to try this concept out this time. And I would love to do it again.

allkpop: Who would you want to work with if you could collaborate with any artist?

Dia: Lola mentioned that our concepts are quite different but also have some similarities with (G)I-DLE. She also draws inspiration from them, so we would really love to collaborate with (G)I-DLE.

allkpop: What is the one thing that makes you proud to be a member of PIXY? How do you keep inspiring and motivating each other every day?

Dia: For the first question, I am actually very proud of PIXY's concept and style because it is not really that common in K-Pop, and I'm also so proud of our teamwork. When we practice, we always motivate and inspire one another, and we come together as one. We try to respect each other's color and talent and incorporate that into everything we do.

allkpop: What are some of your goals or dreams for this year? 

Sua: We were unable to meet many of our fans, WINXYs, during the pandemic, so I am hoping that starting this year, we will be able to meet more WINXYs, spend more time with them, and interact with them.

allkpop: Is there anything else you'd like to say to your fans?

Dajeong: We just came back with our third mini-album, 'REBORN,' since there was a long wait for our comeback, I hope many people can show love and support for our new album 'REBORN,' as well as for the title track "Villain."
