K-Pop fans are talking about being a solo stan.
On April 9th, a post on an online forum gained attention for casting a question about solo stans. Originally titled, "I can never be a solo stan. So I'm intrigued by them.", an anonymous netizen wrote, "I always end up stanning the group even if I start stanning as a solo stan of that group- unless that group has a certain member that has ended up on society page in a newspaper."
Some of the comments to the post include: "I used to be like you lol But somehow I naturally became a solo stan."
"It's not like you're hating other members in the group. I'm actually more fascinated by group stans because how are you attracted to all people in the group?"
"For me, I always join the fandom as a group stan but then I end up being a solo stan."
"Well, I can't speak for all solo stans but for me, it's just you're only following up with that certain member. I don't hate relationships or chemistries within the group. I just don't watch the group's live streams or teasers unless there is my bias in those."
"I feel like I won't be able to stan a member if I'm not interested in the others he or she is constantly interacting with."
"lol Idk how people stay uninterested in the other members of the group you are constantly seeing...unless you are just a casual fan."
What do you think?
There are far too many solo stans in kpop these days. The thing about these solo stans is they're not innocent or friendly. Lisa, by far, has the worst of them. The amount of hatred those solo stans have towards the other members, specifically Jennie, is too much. They praise Lisa and are so quick to throw the other girls under the bus whenever possible. I have yet to encounter any friendly or peaceful solo stans of any kind though. They all seem to be pretty toxic and I don't want any part of that and it seems like most groups feel the same as they don't seem to interact with solo stans often, from what I see.
