Staff members under fire after TREASURE's Junkyu wore an outfit appropriating culture
TREASURE enjoyed summer leisure during the 54th episode of their reality series "TREASURE MAP." The task assigned to members and those who didn't accomplish it were given a punishment to wear costumes in public. As such, Junkyu wore a box braid wig provided by the staff as a penalty for him.
Due to that costume, people on social media accused Junkyu of being "racist" and "appropriating culture," giving criticism and hateful comments. On the other hand, Treasure Makers also took social media to call out YG Entertainment regarding this, since it is the staff members that chose the costume and not Junkyu himself.
Tbh they looked VERY uncomfortable by wearing them. I don't understand why the company staff chose to do this when the industry is constantly being called out for ca ALL.THE.TIME. At this point I'm in the verge of thinking they did this on purpose to cancel them. ( I know it doesn't make sense ,but this situation doesn't either in my opinion)

As a black person I’m so tired of the same things being said. “They didn’t know, it’s the staffs fault.” This can only be an excuse for so long. You can see in the corner there is also a Mexican themed costume as well. Why are our cultures used as a penalty? Like another comment said, why can’t they wear hanbok as a penalty? Because it would be super disrespectful and many Korean fans would find it offensive right? But it’s okay long as it’s not y’all.
