BTS's Jungkook is known to have a strong public presence both internationally and in his homeland. He is arguably the most famous K-pop idol right now, if being the most searched K-pop idol on Google and constantly mentioned by locals and non-music media are anything to go by. There were countless times Jungkook's name randomly popped up outside of K-pop and even music industry in general, for instance when he was specifically mentioned by the famous American sitcom The Simpsons.
Jungkook has had his fair share of randomly appearing in Korean TV shows and dramas, proving his strong public presence in South Korea. Listed below are some of the Korean dramas and shows in which Jungkook was randomly mentioned:
1. 'Crash Landing On You.' Jungkook was mentioned in this extremely popular Korean drama starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin. In a scene where Son Ye-jin’s character met a girl in Pyeongyang, North Korea, the girl introduced herself as ARMY with Jungkook as her bias.
2. 'Pop Out Boy.' The female character wanted Jungkook to appear in front of her, so she tore up the paper and shouted his name.
3. 'Mr. Sunshine.' It is a Korean drama written by famous screenwriter Kim Eun-sook. Jungkook's name appeared in a letter sent by the leading character Aeshin to her grandfather, persuading him to support an uprising of private soldiers across the country. In the letter, Jungkook's name was written in Chinese characters, in the phrase which read "Yoo-saeng Jeon Jungkook Busan." (Note: the word "Yoo-saeng" means a Confucian scholar which generally refers to a man of aristocrat class in the Chosun era).
4. 'Blessings of The Sea.' The male character said he would set up blind dates for the woman and claimed that he had many handsome friends, including one that looked like BTS Jungkook.
5. 'Roller Coaster Reboot.' The female character was seen watching a Jungkook's fancam while the narrator in the background said, "As I watch my vitamin, my life tonic, ‘Golden Maknae’ Jungkook from BTS, a smile automatically springs up like a mom’s proudly smile. But if you smile too much, you can get a reality hit, so be careful.”
6. 'Common Siblings.' It is a popular Korean children's comedy series with 2 million subscribers on Youtube. In an episode, the brother was happy because he found a letter in his sister’s room which said “Oppa, love you forever.” It turned out that the "oppa" in the letter actually referred to Jungkook. The sister was upset that her brother read her fan letter without her permission. The full content of her fan letter read, "Oppa, thank you for always being by my side. Sorry I haven't been that good to you lately. Love you forever.”
7. ‘Girls’ High School Mystery Class.' Jungkook and V were mentioned in this Korean web series. Jang Do Yeon, one of the leading characters said, "Is there anything that would surprise people?" in which an idea came up to her. She then shouted, "Wow! It’s BTS! BTS came to our school! Woah! It’s Jungkook! V also came!"
9. 'The Uncanny Encounter.' There was a scene in this Korean drama where drawings and a poster of BTS were seen on the wall, including a particular drawing of Jungkook and Jin from the 'Go Go' live stage.
