Celebrating Valentine’s Day, Nike released a special edition on its Air Force 1 series. After the K-pop star took to Instagram to show off his newest addition to shoes collection, the kicks saw a sharp increase in resale prices, thanks to K-pop Legend G-Dragon.
Known for his highly-coveted partnership with the brand, the fashion icon took to Instagram to share his newest pair of sneakers. “#HVD2021,” the celebrity shared a post with three close-up images of the “Valentine’s Day” AF1, which boasts heart-shaped perforations on the toe box and hidden details on the tongue.
Originally retailing for ₩169,000 KRW (approximately $154 USD), the shoe’s prices jumped as high as ₩400,000 KRW (approximately $365 USD) after GD’s Instagram post, marking a roughly 137 percent increase. On average, the kicks were resold at around ₩300,000 KRW (approximately $273 USD), depending on the size. “He’s the Elon Musk of the sneaker scene,” a follower joked, while others added: “This must be the GD effect.”
Once again, G-Dragon shows his great impact, although he's been on hiatus for the 4th year in a row, and after being in industry since he was 6 years old.
