On January 25, Bobby had an online press conference before the release of his 2nd full album, "Lucky Man," with the title track "U MAD."
The monster rapper said that he should feel humble 7 years after winning "Show Me The Money" and said that he was thrilled to release his new music, and it felt great to be able to show everyone the songs he worked on.
Q: Why was the album named “LUCKY MAN?”
Bobby: "There are a lot of emotions in the album. I am now in my 20s, and I could feel so many emotions like this. I thought that fact shows how lucky I am; that’s why I named the album ‘LUCKY MAN.’
Q: What would Bobby want to achieve with this comeback?
Bobby: "Rather than achievement or any goal, I want to have a mindset of 'let's work 100% hard on the given tasks every day.’ I believe efforts never betray."
Bobby also talked about the importance of working with the members and how iKON is always supported him; "They monitored my songs often, and I felt the greatest when they empathized without any special explanations. I was going through a hard time when I had been working on "RaiNinG," which Koo Ju-ne featured in, and he really sympathized with my feelings."
Bobby also said that "Lucky Man" was the most Bobby-ish album, and he wanted people to relate to songs in a story-line; "I wrote new songs also choose from what I’ve written before for this album. The most important aspect was the storyline people can relate to. When I played all tracks, I focused on what I was curious about next, so I paid a lot of attention to arranging the tracklist and the lyrics."
Bobby emphasized his detailed work as a producer by adding 4 tracks of SKIT to the tracklist, which connected 13 songs expressing various emotions inside into a single story. About the title track ‘U Mad’, Bobby said it is a song he wrote for himself that’s weakened. Anyone who hears this song would realize it is an energetic song. Somehow has that sneer-like feeling with that “u cry?” remark.
Bobby also stated that there is a lot of difference between working with iKON and as a soloist; "There’s definitely a difference doing activities with the group and solo BOBBY. When I'm with my team, I'm more at ease and can do even better because the members make up for my lacking. I have more worries and have to work harder as a solo. I have to fill 3 minutes (song) all by myself."
Finally, Bobby stated that the music video clip of the title song "U MAD" used a lot of CGI, and he even went to action school for MV. He even said it looks like a Matrix movie.
