Hoppipolla (호피폴라) is a band formed in JTBC's survival show Superband in 2019. They won the show with band Lucy in 2nd place (some of you might already know Lucy). They went on tours after the show ended before officially debuting.
The band's name means “jumping into puddles” in Icelandic and is about "Hoping people around the world that can immerse in their music and feel bliss by getting solace".
Hoppipolla consists of 4 members in total - two vocalists (I'll, Ha Hyunsang), a cellist (Hong Jinho) and a guitarist (Kim Youngso). The instruments they use are not fixed though as some members can play more than 1 instrument.
I’ll and Ha Hyunsang have both been active as singer-songwriters before joining Superband, while Kim Youngso and Hong Jinho have been performing as soloists. I’ll also majored in piano at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and Hong Jinho holds an undergraduate degree from Seoul National University and a masters from University of Music Wurzburg.
They made their debut on November 16, 2019 with their single album "About Time" and returned April 22, 2020 with their 1st Minialbum "Spring to Spring". Be sure to check them out!
I literally thought Ill is a typo until I read further and went back like there must be four members. Lol.
