Thousands of fans have applied for free tickets to BTS’s upcoming appearance on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series on May 15th using the website 1iota.com. Fans were asked to fill out a form that included their date of birth- an usual request for concert tickets.
It was explained by the company- 1iota - that it was first come first serve. All fans were put on a wait list until the distribution of tickets took place.
However, once tickets were distributed, a sickening trend appeared. Only fans under the age of 23 were receiving tickets regardless of when they submitted the request.
Armys took to twitter to voice their concerns and confirm that so far all of the fans who have received tickets have been under the age of 23. Fans are demanding an explanation from both Good Morning America and 1iota regarding the age bias.
What do you think? Is Good Morning America pushing the narrative that kpop fans are merely screaming teens and nothing more?
Both Good Morning America and 1iota have not commented on this.
I doubt it's because they want to portray BTS fans as teens, America really doesn't care that much about Kpop to do this. They probably want young, pretty faces that look good on TV.
