GOT7 wants to grow their domestic popularity like TWICE

Posted by yckim124763 pts Monday, May 20, 2019

On May 20, GOT7 talked about TWICE in an interview for their new album 'Spinning Top.'

Regarding their JYP Entertainment label junior, JB said, "There's definitely something to learn from hoobaes. That also applies to TWICE. TWICE is well known domestically and I believe we need to follow that. I wonder about how we can make ourselves more known domestically."

The leader also said, "Honestly, I've never thought we lack in our performance or talent. But I do think our popularity is below what we expected. I think we get motivated and need to follow (TWICE) by upgrading our talent."

GOT7 admitted their popularity is "iffy" - not too popular but also not too unpopular either. Regarding this, GOT7 said, "We have to show more of ourselves through content to improve our popularity. We prepare well for our performance and albums. We are certain on that but we think we need to show more of ourselves to the public."

I wish got7 would stop comparing themselves to other groups. they're good enough and I love them for who they are and for their amazing unique music. each group has their own asset, as for got7, it's their international popularity and stable fanbase so they're doing MORE than just great. just because you don't have domestic popularity doesn't mean you're a failure. it's only one country + the way korea treats jyp girl groups is really diff with the way they treat jyp boy groups so it's not right to compare two different circumstances with each other.

GOT7 MY BOYS, YOU ARE THE BEST BOYS IVE EVER SEEN.

I don't think it's fair to compare boy groups and girl groups purely based on public recognition. While there are of course exceptions, typically boy groups are less recognized by the general public but have much, much more committed fans. That's why, on average, streaming numbers are higher for girl groups but physical album sales are way higher for boy groups. (Buying an album is much more of a financial commitment than streaming a song.)
