During an interview, Sungjong shared his genuine thoughts on the future of INFINITE.
In 'TV Report's recent interview, the youngest member of the group faced many topical questions, which led him to acknowledge the difference between the past and the present state of the group.
He said, "It's true that our fandom has decreased, compared to our old days. Back in those days, INFINITE used to be super in demand. But, instead of longing for the past, we tend to cherish those memories, thinking, 'oh, we were also in high demand once'. We held many concerts, music programs, and huge fan meetings."
However, Sungjong also did not fail to ignore the changes that came after member Sunggyu joined the military last year. The interview mentioned that there was "a rather large empty spot", how Sungguy's hiatus naturally made fan meetings and single releases much more difficult.
"I know that our fans would feel very sad. So, we did a lot of meetings in relation to that as well. About what to do in the future. From the onset, we always discussed that INFINITE was more important than solo activities. So, we continue to keep saying: let's keep doing well, move forward, etc. We are still loved, and I believe that our popularity is in present tense. I'm sure the 'hyungs' will also agree with me. INFINITE is eternal."
Words of reassurance from the 'maknae'! What do you think of INFINITE's career in the K-pop industry?
Always an Inspirit. Infinite will always and forever be my #1. I've seen the shift in popularity and it is very saddening. That shows who the true fans are. You can like other groups, but to completely let go of a group is disheartening. I love other groups, but I completely follow Infinite... They are the light in my Kpop life.
