British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) ran an article on 26th January titled Blackpink are more popular than BTS on their official website.
They have mention the following in their article
"BLACKPINK's video has been watched a massive 625 million times, crushing
K-pop boyband BTS who have only been watched 623 million times."
However netizens havent responded to this article very well.
I heard about this on twitter yesterday, it's just baffling to me that professional journalists would think that Youtube views = popularity and nothing else matters. O-o I mean professional journalists! It makes me think they don't care about the truth or acknowledging either Blackpink nor BTS or kpop in general for that matter, it's just to make some noise without caring and it's sad that they are starting to do this more and more; every year that goes by true journalism dies a bit more and my culture-loving heart is whitering with it.
