A man committed a crime in order to purposely return to prison.
According to Gangdong Police Station on September 11, a 45-year-old man is under investigation for robbery.
On the night of September 9, the man threatened a part-time employee at a convenience store with a weapon and demanded, "Just give me a dollar (1,000 KRW)."
The man received a dollar from the employee, then ran straight to a nearby security center. To the policemen at the security center, the man confessed his crime, stating, "I robbed a convenience store with a weapon." He was arrested on the spot.
During the police investigation, the man explained, "I committed a crime because I want to go back to prison."
It's revealed the man was in prison for many years in the past. The man struggled with finding a job due to his criminal record and faced financial difficulties.
The police plan to complete the investigation and charge the man with robbery.
