On August 2, A, whose identity has not been confirmed, personally contacted media outlets, stating, "I apologize as this has negatively affected Lee Sung Wook, who's my same age and also promoted in the 90s. I called him a bit ago and sincerely apologized. He said it was okay and comforted me." It seems netizens attempted to find out who A is after reports of him verbally abusing and threatening a car salesman made headlines, and Lee Sung Wook was mistakenly suspected to be A.
A also stated he had good reason to pick a bone with the car salesman and dealership in question as he'd been extremely inconvenienced by the sale of a car that's been giving him a lot of problems. He further stated he would explain the situation in detail and reveal his identity in time.
