NEXZ (Tomoya, Yuu, Haru, So Gun, Seita, Hui, and Yuki) stirred excitement with the release of their performance video for “Simmer”, a track from their second mini-album “O-RLY?”. Dressed in fashionably reimagined school uniforms, the members delivered a striking visual concept. Members Tomoya, Yuu, and Haru also took part in choreographing the routine, further enhancing the stage appeal. The synergy of concept, outfit, and choreography played out seamlessly in the video, earning the group praise from fans for their “irresistible charm.”
The track “Simmer” draws inspiration from the culinary term for maintaining just below boiling temperature — a metaphor reflected in its tense, building energy. With tight rap verses, passionate lyrics, and uniquely textured sound elements, the hip-hop track radiates controlled intensity. NEXZ showcased their versatility by contrasting the bubbly freedom of title track “O-RLY?” with the restrained charisma of “Simmer.” Their performances on major music shows such as Music Bank, Show! Music Core, and Inkigayo drew positive feedback from domestic and international K-pop fans alike, who admired the group’s dynamic range.
NEXZ’s first comeback of the year with “O-RLY?” marked a milestone in their rapid rise. The title track debuted at No. 1 on Bugs’ real-time chart, giving them their first-ever No. 1 on a digital chart. They also topped key album charts including Hanteo and Circle Chart. On May 9th, they were nominated for their first music show win on Music Bank. On the 11th, they appeared on Love Game with Park So Hyun for their first radio appearance, served as special MCs on SBS Inkigayo, and hosted a live performance event — all showcasing their growing presence. One heartwarming moment included the members celebrating Hui’s birthday on air, along with b-boying performances that highlighted NEXZ’s unique identity.
Facing their first major comeback stage, NEXZ etched their passion and color into the spotlight. From transforming the familiarity of school uniforms into bold new styles, to channeling personal emotions through every movement and facial expression, the youthful energy and evolving story of these seven rising stars has left a lasting impression on K-pop audiences. On May 13th at 1 p.m., NEXZ is set to appear on “Noon Hope Song with Kim Shin Young,” raising anticipation for yet another charming performance.
