According to a report from Seoul Seobu Police Station on September 26, back on the 21st, a man in his 60s known as Mr. 'A', beat his ex-girlfriend known as 'B' (50s) using a golf club in an alleyway in Eunpyeong-gu.
Upon witnessing this, Mr. Hwang (43) got into a physical fight with 'A' and managed to pry the golf club away from his hands.
As a result, the alleyway was covered with 'B's blood, illustrating the serious degree of assault. Though it was an edgy confrontation, Mr. Hwang managed to take hold off 'A's golf club in the end.
With his golf club taken away, 'A' quickly fumbled through his bag and took out a jar of hydrochloric acid and was about to pour it on Mr. Hwang when his partner Mr. Seo (37) stopped him.
Thanks to the quick response from the nearby civilians, no one was injured from the spraying of the deadly chemical substance.
Soon, police rushed over and arrested the criminal for attempted murder.
After further investigation, it was revealed that 'A' had dated 'B' for approximately 1 year when B opted to end the relationship in August. 'A' then decided to murder his ex who refused to see him.
Police also discovered that 'A' carried a lethal weapon at the time in addition to his golf club and hydrochloric acid.
The officer commented, "The civilians risked their own lives to prevent a bigger incident."
Meanwhile, police officials from Seobu Station awarded Mr. Hwang and Mr. Seo for their bravery. Currently, both Mr. Hwang and victim 'B' are being treated at the hospital.
