When fans asked what they did during their hiatus, Donghyun answered, "When I would return late after a musical, I usually would see the members hanging out together and wonder what they might have been up to."

Hearing this, the other members said, "We would usually just eat together and watch TV, that's all. Then afterward, we would play around and follow our individual schedules."
The boys then shared, "Jeongmin would often disappear early in the morning. We found out that he went to compose in the studio. And that is how 'Star' was born."
