Gummy made an appearance on the June 13 installment of SBS' 'One Night of Entertainment' where she discussed the origin of her stage name.
Junior singer Kim So Hee visited Gummy at her concert and conducted the interview. She talked about how her stage name came to be, as Gummy began, "The younger generation may not be fully aware." She then explained, "If you're trapped in a spider's web, it's hard to get out. Likewise, I wanted people to be trapped by my music." (Note: Gummy means Spider in Korean).
Hearing this, Kim So Hee asked, "Was there another name you had in mind besides 'Gummy'?" Gummy replied, "There was one that pretty much stuck out in a subtle way from the selections which was 'piano,'" causing much laughter among viewers.
