Actor Jung Woo Sung is currently facing the consequences of an investment scam by a writer, who's accused of defrauding 2.3 billion Won ($1.96 million USD) from acquaintances.
On March 16, Red Brick House Entertainment revealed Jung Woo Sung's past affiliation with the scam in question, "Jung Woo Sung suffered financial and mental harm after investing money to Park (46) who is a drama story writer. However, he did not file any lawsuits because he didn't want it to gain public attention."

The investment scam is currently rising to the surface as other victims of Park have filed lawsuits against her. Park is revealed to be a screenwriter who wrote a popular drama back in the '90s. She is now the head of a publication company and also owns a fashion brand. She and Jung Woo Sung became close in 2008, and he's said to have invested an undisclosed amount to the writer for an apparent private equity fund in 2009.
However, the fund never exited. Red Brick House claimed that Jung Woo Sung fell into a great shock as his close 'friend' turned against him. Park is also said to have used the actor's name to further the scam.
She's set to show up in court on March 17.
