G-Friend had an honest talk during an interview with '@star1'.
The girls were first asked if they agreed with the term 'sand spoon miracle'. 'Sand spoon' is a term that opposes the phrase 'born with a golden spoon'. Idols who are from YG, JYP, and SM Entertainment are usually considered the 'golden spoon' idols, because their labels are able to provide strong support and basically guarantee a first place win.
However, G-Friend, who are from a small company, are seen as more powerless and weak. People tend to believe that it is almost impossible to succeed without the power of a golden spoon and for the most part it has held true throughout K-Pop history. The question aims to ask if G-Friend actually did face struggles because of the small size and lack of power of their company.

To this G-Friend strongly disagreed and answered, "Not at all. Our label worked hard to provide the best for us. We received good lessons and were able to practice without any inefficiencies. We are the only group in our company so the practice room was never too small. We don't consider ourselves as 'sand spooners'."
In addition, the girls were asked about how they were going to spend their paychecks. Sowon answered, "I dream of giving an allowance to my parents. They are going to be so touched when I transfer money into their account." Then Umji answered, "I want to go on a family trip."
For G-Friend, it doesn't matter if they are beholders of the 'sand spoon' or 'golden spoon'. The talented young ladies have already dominated the charts and most likely will continue to do so with their talent and hard work. Is this a revolution in the K-Pop industry where smaller labels may finally be able to complete? We sure hope so, and G-Friend is proof that it is happening!
