It has been nearly a decade since Lee Yoon Hee (29) seemingly disappeared into thin air; yet, Lee's parents hold on to the sliver of hope that they will be able to reunite with their beloved daughter one day.
Lee Yoon Hee's father, 78-year-old Lee Dong Se called media outlet Insight, telling them, "It's a case that's already too old but please help us," and informing them of the details of his daughter's disappearance.
Lee disappeared on June 6, 2006, after she returned to her room from the end of the semester departmental meeting at Chonbuk National University's School of Veterinary Medicine.
The history on Lee's computer showed that the last two terms she searched on the internet were "112 (the number for calling the police in Korea)" and "rape."
Two days later on June 8, Lee's friends, who suspected it strange that they couldn't determine her whereabouts, decided to drop by her residence. Lee's friends found that her room was locked and that her pet dog, which Lee leashed up every time she left her place, was loose. The strangest part of all was that they failed to detect any signs that Lee was preparing to go out.
Three days after Lee's disappearance, an official missing persons report was filed and police conducted a major search, the efforts of which led to no concrete evidence and a dead end.

Lee's parents went around the entire country spreading flyers about their missing daughter and even offered 100 million KRW (~$87,330 USD) to the person who would find Lee. Unfortunately, the parents' efforts were in vain--they heard nothing of Lee.
Authorities have come across pieces of information which could be circumstantial in the case. Couple days before Lee went missing, she allegedly lost her purse to a snatcher, and a certain man had obsessively stalked her. Lee had written about getting her purse snatched on her school's community board, and Lee's parents suspect that their daughter's stalker could be the perp in the case. They said, "There is a suspect that we're certain about. It is man that used to live nearby Yoon Hee's residence and followed her around like a stalker but he slipped from our clutches because no physical evidence such as CCTV footage is available."
Lee's father added, "Everyone is tired now that ten years have passed. But if only I could find my daughter...I just hope that we could discover even a small bit of evidence."
The 'Chonbuk U Lee Yoon Hee missing persons case,' which had been classified as unsolved, was reopened by Jeonju Deokjin Police Station. A rep from the station revealed, "We're expecting some information but we've got nothing as of yet. Though it is a case that is ten years old, we are trying our best to solve it."
