A clip uploaded by CBS's 'No Cut News' on December 29 showed 88-year-old Lee Yong Soo, one of the few surviving 'comfort women' from World War II, venting her anger at foreign minister Im Sung Nam.
Before official negotiations took place, the Korean government had claimed that all the controversial articles regarding the taking down of the girl statue (erected to signify comfort women's existence and suffering during war time) in front of what used to be the Japanese embassy were referring to Japan's unilateral assertions. However, during final negotiations, the government incited public rage when their actions belied their earlier claims, signing an vaguely worded agreement which could allow for the possible removal of the statue.
Lee called a press conference with Im a the headquarters of Korean Council for the Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan, and fumes at the minister, "Just who are you? Why are you trying to murder us for a second time around? Shouldn't you have met with the victims before you negotiated [with Japan]?"

Lee continues, "Are you a Japanese ambassador? Are you of their ilk? Why are you trying to murder us again, we who suffered because we had no country, because our nation was weak? When a survivor of history is alive like this...we are Korea's daughters who are still clearly alive. Why do you never think of us?"
According to the The Washington Post, Japan has already apologized twice for their wartime atrocities, and in the recent agreement, the Japan contributed $8.3 million USD into a fund which supports the surviving 'comfort women.' Unfortunately, it seems as though it may still be a while before Korea--and other Asian nations such as China--will forgive Japan for their war crimes.
