Actor Kim Sung Min (41) has now been sentenced for purchasing Philopon (methamphetamine), a drug banned in Korea.
If you remember, he was arrested back in March of this year under the suspicion of purchasing the drug and using it. He admitted that it was indeed true that he did purchase the drug through a distributor, but denied that he actually used it.
On September 2, the court sentenced Kim Sung Min to 10 months in jail and a fine of 700,000 KRW (~600 USD). With their ruling, the court stated, "Kim Sung Min confessed about purchasing the narcotics, and is deeply regretting his actions. He also promised that he would not commit a crime related to drugs again."

This isn't his first time running into trouble with the law on drug use. Kim Sung Min was previously arrested on suspicion for smuggling Philopon from the Philippines from April 2008 to August 2010 and using it more than four times in September 2010. The actor was previously given a sentence of two years and six months in jail, suspended for four years, which meant he was on probation and would not have to spend time in jail if he stayed out of trouble for 4 years. However just when it seemed he had finished his suspended sentence, he was arrested for the same type of case, and has now been sentenced to 10 months in jail.
