It was revealed that Bae Sang Moon, a Korean golfer on the PGA tour, lost his lawsuit which would have allowed him to delay his mandatory military service. After his overseas travel permit expired last year, Bae attempted to extend his permit and stay longer overseas. However, the Military Manpower Administration refused the extension of his visa, citing fears that Bae might have been trying to evade service.
At 29 years old, Bae, who has earned $2,047,187 on the PGA Tour in 2015, will lose two of his prime golfing years to the military.
After the ruling was declared, Bae announced that he would respect the decision as he would soon return to South Korea to enlist in the military.
