THE GIRL WHO CAN SEE SMELLS - EPISODE 2
What happens when the ultimate bloodhound teams up with the unbreakable man? This.
After failing to intimidate Moo Gak, the police captain gives him a chance to prove himself with a decade-old case deemed impossible to solve. Meanwhile, the co-worker who loaned Cho Rim her car wants it fixed. Of course, Cho Rim's boss, the TV producer, tells her she needs to practice for the audition instead of heading off to find a mechanic. She gets an estimate from the shop and texts Moo Gak the amount because he offered to pay for the damages. She ends up drafting him for her audition in exchange for her services to help him solve the case. But Moo Gak dumps that case in favor of a more recent one and Cho Rim's skills lead them to a very different conclusion than what they had first thought...
I love fantasy series, and this is turning out to be a great one. There are scenes that are cute beyond words, like when he tests out her superpower of seeing scents when she reveals it to him and their audition together.

I also love seeing them demonstrate their particular powers. His power is a fairly easy one to simulate on the small screen, but her power takes some CGI work. Those are some stunning graphics, helping lend a fantastic air to the series.
The odors Cho Rim sees when she concentrates
Shin Se Kyung is wonderful as Cho Rim, and the aspiring comedienne is a spectacular foil for driven, humorless Moo Gak. The actress has a long history of playing children, and she makes a believable adult here. The nice thing is that the two leads aren't mean to each other. They seem to have developed a comfortable friendship without the constant bickering that K-dramas seem to want to throw in.
Here's the question of the hour: do you think they ship well? It's really too early to tell, but I have a feeling that he'll start warming up once they're hot on the trail of the guy who murdered Moo Gak's sister. They've hinted at it a couple times, but I want more. :)
During the audition Moo Gak hams it up
'The Girl Who Can See Smells' is based on a webtoon of the same name by Man Chwi released on Olleh in 2013.
If you haven't seen the drama yet, you owe it to yourself to check it out. I did, and it's just the thing to banish the rainy season blues and satisfy your thirst for good drama.
