The participants of SBS's first episode of 'Magic Eye' brought up the subject of violent dating and asked one another whether they'd ever experienced it and if they had, whether they were the victims or the aggressors.
Lee Hyori said, "I was both. There was a lot I had done and a lot I had received. Throwing the cell phone was a common occurrence. In my twenties, I had a low self-esteem, so if the other party rejected me, I'd think, 'I'm a person of no use,' and was unable to control my anger."

Lee Hyori elaborated that her self-esteem was low, but she had great pride. She said, "The gap between the real Lee Hyori and celebrity Lee Hyori was large. A man could turn in early because he was tired, but I'd say, 'Do you not love me? Then let's end it all!' and start throwing stuff."
